About Sourdough Ratio
We built the calculator we wished existed when we were starting out — simple, accurate, and completely free.
Our Story
Sourdough Ratio Calculator started in 2024 as a side project born out of flour-dusted frustration. Like many home bakers, we found ourselves scribbling baker's percentages on scraps of paper, second-guessing our hydration math, and over-proofing loaves because we misjudged fermentation timing.
We searched for a simple, no-nonsense tool that would let us punch in a target dough weight and instantly see how much flour, water, starter, and salt we needed — without signing up, without ads obscuring the screen, and without needing a spreadsheet open on the counter.
We couldn't find one. So we built it.
What started as a single calculator page has grown into a comprehensive sourdough knowledge hub. Our blog now covers everything from starter feeding ratios and bulk fermentation timing to flour science and advanced shaping techniques — all written by bakers who actually use the calculator every bake day.
Our Mission
Make baker's math invisible. Every home baker — from first-timer to seasoned artisan — deserves a tool that handles the numbers so they can focus on the dough.

The Team
We're a small team of home bakers and web developers who believe the best sourdough resources should be open, accurate, and beautifully simple. Between us we've baked hundreds of loaves, tested every hydration level from 60% to 100%, and burned through more flour than we care to admit.
Every article on this site is written by someone who has actually made the recipe, tested the technique, or used the product. We don't publish content we can't stand behind.
